Conservation Culture

A philosophy stressing the conservation of the environment amid the pursuit of economic progress and advances in the compatibility between humanity and nature. General Secretary Hu Jintao formally mentioned the creation of a conservation culture in his report to the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China last year, making it a development target for the first time. An integrated part of the Scientific Outlook on Development, the conservation culture requires a shift in the pattern of economic growth, in the industrial structure and in consumption to save energy, reduce emissions and protect the environment.
