I'm confused by two simple words, kid and guy. I'd like to know how British people use these words. And can they be used in formal occasions?
Gao Yuanxue, China
We often hear people referring to children as kids and the word guy also pops up regularly in conversations. According to dictionaries, these two words are used in informal situations.
If we did use informal words in formal situations such as a news report or a job interview, what could happen? Is it really going to be a disaster for the person speaking?
In this programme, Helen and Li ask some British people for their opinions on the use of informal words.
