Schools ban Christmas events

Wenzhou has banned Christmas events in all schools, Wenzhou Evening News reported. The notice was sent from the Wenzhou Education Bureau to all kindergartens and primary and middle schools in the city. This is the first time that the education bureau has sent a notice forbidding any Christmas celebration and activities. The notice triggered a heated discussion online. An anonymous official from the bureau said it simply wants to ensure that schools pay more attention to traditional Chinese festivals.
