Jiaying

Well… hmm…

You said ‘yikes’ – that normally means you’re shocked or worried about something. Is it my hair?
Neil
Well, ‘yikes!’ is also something we say when we’re surprised, and I was just surprised by your new hairstyle – but in a good way!
Jiaying
Hmm, if you say so. 人们通常用 “yikes” 来表示惊讶、震惊或者担忧，就好比我们汉语里的 “哎呀”，是一个非正式的表达方式。So, Neil, what has ‘surprised’ you about my hair then?
Neil
Err… Shall we hear some more examples first?
