>World Porridge Making Championships

A vegan food blogger from Holland has won the World Porridge Making Championships. Miriam Groot, 25, beat competitors from around the world.

She used pinhead oatmeal, mushrooms and vegan cheese to create Oatmeal Arancini - balls of risotto, rolled in breadcrumbs and deep fried in oil.

The annual competition, traditionally held in Carrbridge in the Highlands, has been run online since last year.

Competitors were asked to submit a video of themselves making their favorite oaty dish.

They were judged on appearance, execution, originality, flair and virtual taste - reflecting which dishes the judging panel most wanted to try.

>Half the world may need glasses in 30 years

Young people spending hours staring at screens means half the world may need glasses within 30 years.

Phone devices and computer screens are to blame for the rising risk of near-sightedness among children and young adults, say scientists.

Researchers have found high levels of looking at a phone or tablet is linked with around a 30% higher risk of near-sightedness, also known as myopia.

But when it is combined with excessive computer use, that risk rose to around 80%.

Researchers fear that this could mean that by 2050, half the world, or 5 billion people, could be near-sighted.

>Flight attendants trade heels for sneakers

Alexandrina Denysenko, a senior flight attendant with seven years of experience, says she sometimes does not get a spare minute to sit down during a flight and dreams of resting her swollen legs after spending hours wearing heels.

SkyUp Airlines, the privately owned Ukrainian carrier that employs Denysenko, decided to put an end to heels and pencil skirts after collecting feedback from flight attendants about their uniform.

The new SkyUp uniform for women now includes white Nike sneakers and a loose orange suit with trousers and a silk scarf, both made by Ukrainian brands. White T-shirts will replace blouses.

>Man builds rotating house

A Bosnian man has built a house that rotates 360 degrees, for his wife to enjoy the ever-changing views.

Vojin Kusic, 72, built the home in Srbac, northern Bosnia and Herzegovina, for his wife Ljubica, who has a penchant for changing views.

This is not the first time Kusic built a house for his family.

When they first married, he built a regular, non-rotating home, where he and his wife raised their three children.

At the time, his wife wanted their bedroom to face the sun, but this meant their living room faced away from the road.

After some time, this issue proved too much, and Kusic had to get to work to switch the entire house around.

When the family moved, Kusic said he had learned his lesson, and not wanting to have to switch the home around again, decided a rotating house would solve the problem.

“Now, our front door also rotates, so if she spots unwanted guests heading our way, she can spin the house and make them turn away,” he joked.
