Ian McKellen爵士：“莎翁影史”展映单元

为纪念莎士比亚逝世400周年，“永恒的莎士比亚”活动将于6月初登陆上海国际电影节，带来“莎翁影史”展映单元，包括横亘电影史的8部莎剧改编经典影片。6月13日，在舞台剧和荧幕上诠释过无数莎剧版本的英国演员伊恩•麦克莱恩爵士（Sir Ian McKellen）将出席“莎翁影史”开幕活动；当晚，由这位演绎过《指环王》白袍法师“甘道夫”、《X战警》“万磁王”的老戏骨主演的1995年版《理查三世》将举行特别放映。

作为莎士比亚文化传播大使，麦克莱恩带着“莎翁影史”来到上海，出席6月11日上海国际电影节开幕式，6月12日对公众讲述自己与“莎翁影史”的故事。

“甘道夫”跨越半个世纪的艺术生涯中，有相当一部分是与莎士比亚联系在一起的——他曾在舞台剧和电影中诠释过绝大部分莎士比亚的作品：从1969年爱丁堡艺术节的《亨利五世》和《爱德华二世》中具有、突破性的表演，到崔佛•纳恩1976年颇受好评的电影《麦克白》中与朱迪•丹奇的精彩合作，以及2012年伦敦残奥会开幕式时他所演绎的《暴风雨》中的普洛斯彼罗，均令人印象深刻。

这部特别放映的《理查三世》，麦克莱恩爵士不仅出演理查三世，还亲自执笔剧本改写，故事的时代背景出神入化地改换到1930年代的二战战场，更显莎剧故事穿越时代的长青魅力。该片主演、编剧、服装在当年获得主流电影奖项提名，如奥斯卡奖、金球奖、英国学院奖等，更获柏林电影节最佳导演殊荣。片中麦克莱恩爵士演绎的跛脚驼背、面貌狰狞的理查既有奸邪又有优雅，将这个大阴谋家的形象深化到几乎无以复加的复杂性，堪称莎翁影史上精彩绝伦的表演巅峰之作。

British Film Institute Shakespeare on Film

Shakespeare on Film is a special BFI curated programme of feature films showing how British cinema has transformed and reimagined Shakespeare's work.

The programme includes the earliest surviving silent Shakespeare, faithful adaptations by British actors and directors who have had made Shakespeare's work accessible internationally (such as Laurence Olivier); performances by today's greatest Shakespearean actors, including Ian McKellen (Richard III); experimental and playful reworkings that reinforce Shakespeare's enduring relevance as source material (Prospero's Books, Theatre of Blood and Next) and expressions of themes such as diversity, identity and desire (Othello, Romeoand Juliet and The Angelic Conversation).

Sir Ian McKellen, British acting legend and recipient of every major theatrical award in the UK and US, will be delivering an exclusive Smart Talk at the Shanghai International Film Festival on 12 June 2016. As part of the British Council's global campaign Shakespeare Lives, celebrating the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death, Sir Ian will discuss his extraordinary range of Shakespeare performances and the problems and pleasures of interpreting Shakespeare for the theatre, television, radio and cinema.
