Netherlands: Black Petes

Across the Netherlands, Christmas celebrations starts early as Dec 5. The Santa Claus of Holland, "St. Nicholas", accompanied by a host of "Black Petes", his companions, will roll into town and send gifts to children, while children will fill their shoes with straw and candy to feed horses. However, there are an increasing number of people opposed to the tradition, arguing that that "Black Petes" are racist.

荷兰的圣诞庆祝活动从12月5日就开始了，荷兰的圣诞老人会和同伴“黑彼得”一起到镇上给孩子们送礼物，而孩子们会在鞋子里装满稻草和糖果来喂马。不过，现在越来越多人反对这一传统，认为“黑彼得”有种族主义倾向。
