1月10日，国家主席习近平在人民大会堂向核潜艇设计师黄旭华和大气物理学家曾庆存颁发国家最高科学技术奖。
President Xi Jinping presented the State Preeminent Science and Technology Award, China’s top scientific honor, to nuclear submarine designer Huang Xuhua and atmospheric physicist Zeng Qingcun at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Friday.

国家科学技术奖每年评审一次，根据最新发布的《关于深化科技奖励制度改革的方案》，规定“国家三大奖”每年授奖总数不超过300项。国家科学技术奖包括：国家自然科学奖、国家技术发明奖、国家科技进步奖，即大家常说的“国家三大奖”，还有授予外籍科学家或外国组织的中华人民共和国国际科学技术合作奖和分量最重的国家最高科学技术奖。国家最高科学技术奖是为表彰在基础科学研究领域取得重大突破、带来深远影响的科学工作者，以及创造了巨大经济效益、促进了社会进步的杰出科学家而设立的。

They should aim for the frontiers of science and technology, lead the direction of its development, shoulder the heavy responsibilities bestowed by history, and be vanguards in innovation in the new era, in order to build China into a powerhouse of science and technology.
