Wu Poh-hsiung, chairman of the ruling Kuomintang (KMT) in Taiwan, will land in Beijing this morning to start his week-long visit to the mainland.

He will meet President Hu Jintao in the capital tomorrow for what will be their second meeting. Their first was in last May shortly after the KMT's victory in the local "presidential" election.

Taiwan "president" Ma Ying-jeou met Wu yesterday, Fujian province-based Taihainet reported. He said the current situation provided a "very good moment" for Wu's mainland visit and that he felt gratified several channels had been set up to aid the stable development of cross-Straits relations.

Taiwan media reported that, as Ma is expected to take over the KMT chairmanship in July, Wu's meeting with President Hu could pave the way for a meeting between Hu and Ma.

Wu will lead a delegation to attend the 80th anniversary of the burial of KMT founder Dr. Sun Yat-sen at a mausoleum in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, on June 1, following the removal of Sun's body from its original resting place in Beijing.

Wu will also visit the cities of Chongqing and Hangzhou after leaving Beijing on May 27, arriving in Nanjing on May 30. He will return to Taiwan on June 1.

Questions:

1. How long will the chairman of Taiwan’s Kuomintang be on the mainland?

2. How many times has he met Hu Jintao before?

3. Who was the founder of the KMT?

Answers:

1. One week .

2. Only once before .

3. Dr Sun Yat Sen.
