While his coach claimed Justin Gatlin's positive drug test was a result of sabotage, the leader of the World Anti-Doping Agency on Sunday called for the Americansprinterto be banned for "up to life" if the results are confirmed.
Sprinter(短跑运动员)源于动词sprint(短距离全速奔跑,最后冲刺),如:
Bessie suddenly broke into a sprint.(贝西突然开始飞奔。)
The runners sprinted down the finishing straight.(赛跑运动员奋力向终点冲刺。)
日常生活中,我们也常用sprint来形容“某项活动进入到最后紧张的冲刺阶段”,如:to put on a final sprint to prepare for the 2008 Olympic Games(2008年奥运会的准备工作进入到最后冲刺阶段)。
