What does New Media at BBC Wales do?

1.Extending TV brands into other platforms -- to deepen loyalty and give audiences more of what they want, for example,Doctor Who on the web, interactive TV, mobile and on partner sites.

2.Use on-demand nature of the web to target niche audiences that TV can't reach well--e.g. bbc.co.uk/wales and bbc.co.uk/cymru.

3.Use innovative Web 2.0 applicants to enable our audience to find, share and use our content how they want, for wxample, iPlayer, Local.

History

For over 80 years the BBC in Wales has been a trusted broadcaster throughout the Principality

Wales was quick to follow the formation of the British Broadcasting Company, as the BBC was originally called when it was formed in October 1922.

1923-66
From humble beginnings in 1923, the BBC in Wales ushered in a new 'Ministry of Happiness'. Expanding rapidly, the staff were soon housed in larger premises at Park Place in Cardiff, and at new studios in Swansea, Bangor and Aberystwyth.

1966-
Since 1966 the purpose-built Broadcasting House at Llandaff has been the hub of BBC Wales' radio, TV and - in more recent years - online services.

How does the BBC handle people's enquiries and comments?

A: The BBC has a number of Information Centres across the UK specifically to respond to peoples enquries and comments. The centre for callers from Wales is in Bangor, and there are also offices in Belfast and Glasgow, as well as a support and referral office in London. There is one single telephone number for BBC Information and the telephone network will automatically route your call to the appropriate centre for your area.

BBC Information Wales can help you with almost any enquiry or comment you have about BBC services, whether you're trying to find out the best frequency in your area for a BBC radio station, want to find out the name of a guest featured on a television show or want to make a general comment about any BBC programmes or services. We welcome all feedback and all comments are registered for the attention of programme makers and senior management.
