报道中的“corkage fee”指的就是“开瓶费”，指“酒店向自带酒水的消费者收取开瓶服务费”。有时，仅用“corkage”一词也可表示“开瓶费”。

“Corkage”源于名词“cork”（瓶塞），相应的，其动词形式“cork”则表示“用瓶塞塞住”，如：to cork the wine securely（将酒封得严严实实）。源于此，口语中，“闭嘴”可表达为“Put a cork in it! ”
