手机铃音知多少：  “和弦铃”怎么说

很多人都知道“彩信服务”的英文缩写是MMS，不过，知道MMS全称的人不是太多。日常生活中，如果提到“彩信”，如何用英文来表达？看下面一段有关“雅虎中国遭国际唱片公司起诉”的相关报道：

Eleven music companies jointly filed a lawsuit against Yahoo! China, owned by Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, over its alleged involvement in illegal downloading and playing copyrighted music.

Liu Bin, an analyst from BDA China, said that the popularity of digital music in China comes from the country's sluggish record sales, which is greatly affected by the prevalence of pirated CDs and a robust demand for mobile music such as ring tones andmultimedia messaging service.

报道说，就网上音乐盗版问题，BDA咨询公司分析师刘斌认为，数字音乐之所以在中国火热源于国内唱片销售市场的萧条，而很大程度上，上述问题是由于盗版光碟的猖獗以及手机用户对彩信等服务的需求。

由报道可知，“彩信服务”相应的英文表达是“multimedia messaging service”，而我们常说的“彩信”则可表达为“multimedia message”。“Multimedia”直译为“多媒体”，我们汉语中的“彩（信）”实指“短信由图象、动画、声音等多媒体形式呈现”，由此，“Multimedia”即体现了“彩”的本质意义。

此外，报道中的“pirated CD”指的是“盗版光碟”，而“ring tone”则为“手机铃音”。

再顺便提及一个常用词汇——“彩铃”，它相应的英文表达为“polyphonic ringtone”。
