加拿大森林大火火势难控

熊熊大火像一堵高墙封住人们的去路，浓烟滚滚遮天蔽日……3日，加拿大艾伯塔省发生森林大火，连日的高温和大风导致火势失控。目前大火已摧毁1600栋建筑，过火面积达1万多公顷，8.8万人紧急疏散，所幸没有人员伤亡报告。

The wildfire in western Canada has ballooned to 85,000 hectares in Fort McMurray overnight and is now billowing across a wide front south of the city, a senior official said Thursday.
一名高级官员周四表示，一夜之间，加拿大西部麦克默里堡发生的大火就蔓延到8.5万公顷范围内，现在正如波浪般跨过城市南部宽广的前线。

【balloon to/billow】
Balloon做动词指“膨胀，涨大，使激增”，balloon to也就是“激增至……”。

Billow做名字指“巨浪，如波涛滚滚而来之物”；做动词则指在波涛中翻滚，扬起，鼓起；比如：The curtains billowed in the breeze.（窗帘在微风中鼓了起来。）

The fire, which broke out early this week, has forced a massive evacuation, said Alberta Premier Rachel Notley one day after the province declared a state of emergency.
艾伯塔省省长诺特利称，这次的森林大火于本周早些时候发生，大量人群被迫紧急疏散。发表此番言论前一天，该省已宣布进入紧急状态。

【state of emergency】
state of emergency就是指的“紧急状态”，宣布进入紧急状态，就用declare a state of emergency来表示。

【break out】
火灾、战争等的爆发，都可以用break out来表示。

【supercharge】
