世界知名学者、中国问题研究专家罗伯特·劳伦斯·库恩（Robert Lawrence Kuhn）、中国日报海外版首席撰稿人安德鲁·穆迪（Andrew Moody）和中国国际电视台《视点》栏目主持人、记者刘欣作为演讲嘉宾与现场500余位观众及海内外网友分享了他们眼中的新时代。

中国日报创办新时代大讲堂有何重大意义？

中国日报社总编辑周树春在开场致辞中是这样说的：

“Today, we are launching Vision China, the New Era Lecture Theatre, in a move to embrace the New Era, pay tribute to the New Era, and reveal the full implications of the New Era.”
“中国日报创办新时代大讲堂，就是致敬新时代，积极地拥抱新时代、阐释新时代、传播新时代。”

周树春说，大讲堂邀请世界一流政商学界精英与大家交流，并通过国际传播平台与世界各地的人们形成更广范围的互动。

“The Lecture Theatre will focus on major issues facing China and the world, explore what China’s story means for the world, and how Chinese wisdom could help the world.”

中国进入新时代：一个开创新纪元的大变革时期

罗伯特·劳伦斯·库恩（Robert Lawrence Kuhn） 是个十足的中国通，他潜心研究中国社会近30年，是著名的国际战略学者、中国专家/评论人。

在演讲中库恩表示，中国进入了新时代，而这个新时代充满了变革、机遇和挑战（full of changes, opportunities and challenges）。

在新时代，中国会有什么作为？库恩认为中国已“制订了所有关键领域的发展新蓝图”：

China has set the trajectory, in all vital areas, of the country's domestic development and international engagement for the next 30-plus years, to midcentury.
中国已经制订了所有关键领域的发展新蓝图，明确了未来30多年直至本世纪中叶中国国内发展和参与国际事务的新方向。

从历史的角度，库恩为我们所处的新时代作出了这样的定义：

When future historians reconstruct the long history of China, they will likely circle our years as an epochal period of transition and transformation.
当未来历史学家回看中国的漫长发展时，他们也许会给我们所处的时代标注：一个开创新纪元的大变革时期。

► I like to call it a conceptual lens because it's like a pair of glasses that enables us to see the world in a new way.
