一位年满18岁而身高只有56厘米的尼泊尔男子近日与其父一同动身前往意大利,打算向吉尼斯世界纪录申请“世界最矮”称号。这名男子生于1992年,8岁时才开始长个,到了11岁身高便再无变化。在他14岁的时候,家人曾经为他申请吉尼斯世界纪录,但是因为他还未成年,身高尚有增长可能而被驳回。目前,吉尼斯世界纪录中“世界最矮”纪录的保持者是来自中国的何平平,他的身高为73厘米;而历史上最矮的纪录保持者是一位印度男子,他的身高为57厘米,比这位尼泊尔挑战者只高出1厘米。

Khagendra Thapa Magar is flying with his father and a supporter to Italy, where they plan to file a claim with London-based Guinness World Records.
His family initially applied when he was 14, but it was rejected as there was a chance that he might grow more.
The current record is held by China's He Pingping, who is 73cm (29in) tall.
The shortest man on record was Gul Mohammed of India, who measured just 57cm (22in) - 1cm taller than Mr Magar.
Mr Magar and his father told reporters in Kathmandu that they planned to appear on an Italian television show this week to talk about his bid for the title.
Afterwards, they will decide on their next destination.
Mr Magar, who was born in 1992 in the Baglung district of Nepal, started to walk only at the age of eight and ceased growing at 11.
