Friend Zone is a platonic friendship between two people one of whom wants the relationship to be romantic. You could fall into Friend Zone after you fail to impress the man or the woman you are attracted to.

“朋友区间”指的是两个人之间的柏拉图式的友谊，其中一个人希望能和对方发展出浪漫恋情。如果你没能让你喜欢的那个人对你倾心，那么你可能就会掉进“朋友区间”。

Some people said that only women get to have platonic friends while a man would never enjoy Friend Zone. The ‘friend zone’ is like the penalty box of dating, only you can never get out. Once a girl decides you’re her ‘friend,’ it’s game over. You’ve become a complete non-sexual entity in her eyes, like her brother, or a lamp.

有些人认为，只有女人才会有纯友谊，而男人永远不会喜欢待在“朋友区间”里。朋友区间就像约会中的受罚席，只不过你永远别想从受罚席离开。一旦一个女孩决定要和你做普通朋友，游戏就结束了。你在她眼中就变成了完全无性别的个体，就像她哥哥，或一盏灯。

I spent all that money on a date, just to find out she put me in the Friend Zone.

Friend Zone的动词形式是Friend-ed。请看例子：
