'Slumdog Millionaire' Hits Chinese Screens

Oscar winning British director Danny Boyle attended a news conference for the movie 'Slumdog Millionaire' in Beijing on March 25. The film is being screened in over 2,000 theaters across China.

The Academy Award-winning film secured a coveted slot as one of 20 major foreign movies that China will import this year.

The low-budget tale of romance tells the story of a young boy and his brother from the slums of Mumbai who are forced to fend for themselves after their mother is murdered in a riot. As a teenager, desperate to locate his childhood sweetheart, the lead character Jamal goes on India's version of 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' in order to draw attention to himself, and is soon one answer away from winning the jackpot—and love.

Tickets are now available at local theatres so go check out this wonderful story of hope and triumph, in an energetic and inspiring film has gained enormous popularity around the world.
