每年的3月因全国两会(two sessions)的召开被称为"中国政治季(China's political season)"。全国"两会"是一个约定俗成的简称，正式的全称是"全国人民代表大会(the National People's Congress, NPC)"和"中国人民政治协商会议(the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, CPPCC)"。

全国政协十二届五次会议于本月3日开幕，13日闭幕(open on March 3 and conclude on March 13)。在3日举行的开幕会上，政协委员们听取和审议了政协全国委员会常务委员会工作报告(hear and deliberate the work report of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee)和政协全国委员会常务委员会关于政协十二届四次会议以来提案工作情况的报告(a report about how proposals put forward at the last session have been handled by the Standing Committee)。
